Faculty Member Gives Back

Faculty Member Gives Back
Pam Weathers has invested more than 30 years as a professor at WPI, helping to establish the university's bioprocessing curriculum and leading WPI's Interdisciplinary Plant Research Group. During her tenure at WPI, Pam and her husband, Stephen Dungan, took advantage of the tuition benefits to send their three daughters to college—one to WPI, one to Ithaca College, and one to Pratt Institute. They always wanted to give back to WPI for that generous benefit.

Pam and Steve decided to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity and became members of the Alden Society. For Pam, the choice was a "no brainer." They received a tax deduction and a fair return on their investment, and they have fulfilled Pam's philanthropic goal by directing the remainder value "to support faculty in plant science and their research at the graduate level."

Pam is certain that if more faculty and staff knew about planned gifts they, too, would join the Alden Society by taking advantage of these simple and effective ways to provide financial support to WPI students.

If you would like to learn about establishing your own philanthropic legacy at WPI through a planned gift, contact Donna Stock, executive director of leadership and planned giving, at 508-831-6073 or dstock@wpi.edu, or click here to learn more about charitable gift annuities.
